Building Momentum

 

Things are beginning to happen in the studio… Today I placed all the older paintings that had been  turned into the wall for months next to the newer ones and suddenly the studio feels buzzy.

I began these newer paintings in a different way than the others. Instead of the usual light dirty patina I used a red oil paint wash. Working on top of a red oil base will dictate the colours that  will go on top but I have no idea how it will change what I do next. It will take at least ten days for them to dry enough before I can rework them which will give me time to pick up the thread and work into the older paintings...

There is this big landscape painting that I have been working on for about three years now. You can see it in the third image in the first row. It has been a real journey with lots of different twists and it's still unfinished. It wore me down a few times and I was thinking of calling it 'The Jumping Off Point’ but...
